Erik is a product, strategy, and partnerships leader translating the full potential of AI to life science and healthcare. Having trained as a physician-scientist, his experiences span academic medicine, biopharma, venture capital, and technology. Prior to Standard Model, Erik led data science at Prometheus Biosciences from startup through IPO and $10.8B Merck acquisition. Earlier, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT and Harvard applying deep learning to biomedical data, sourced and evaluated startups applying AI to drug discovery and clinical trials at Takeda Ventures, and founded a nonprofit supporting digital health startups (several of which raised capital and/or were acquired). He holds an MD from Emory University, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Statistics from Georgia Tech, and a BS in Bioengineering from UCLA.
